By the end of the Literacy Module, the participant will have a better understanding of writing across all content areas, how to read with a text structure focus, vocabulary strategies that occur in the previewing stage of reading, and creating content specific word walls. An in-depth explanation of error analysis, accountable talk, and the importance of summarizing were also integrated in the components of this course. Teachers were provided with examples of each of these topics, articles that support the research behind these topics, and a discussion platform to summarize what was learned while having the chance to collaborate with peers. This course was designed to support and promote Ballard's literacy initiative this year.
